Design thinking is a methodology and a mindset to routinely innovate in a way that’s meaningful to the people that you’re trying to serve.

With a designer’s mindset and toolkit, we are more likely to arrive at unpredictable answers to common questions or surprising solutions for well-known problems. Therefore it is used in all kinds of industries as a means to innovate. Design thinking is an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving and as such eminently suitable for wicked problems. This approach is also human-centered and co-creative, which helps you to make decisions based on what customers really want and what is best for all people involved. When left to designers the creative process of design seems chaotic at first glance, but you can break it down to a few recurring activities, which are exploring, framing, ideating, prototyping and reflecting. This has been translated to models to make it practical for those who want to get a grip on the process. The five-step-process of the Standford Design School serves as the model for this toolkit.
